Every year, approximately 50 first year undergraduates join the Biology Program in the Chemistry, Biology and Marine Science Department, and approximately the same number graduate. Many students return to mainland Japan, while many others find work in Okinawa.
Graduation represents the end of one’s life as a student, but the four years spent at the University of the Ryukyus will remain the basis of each individual’s future life.
Graduation also marks a new beginning for each graduate.
While the Biology Program does not have an official Alumni Association, we believe that graduates will continue to maintain their relationships with each other following graduation, and to utilize the university even after to obtain up-to-date information and to stay in touch.
For individuals who wish to continue to learn after finishing university, in addition to the option of continuing straight to graduate school, there are other opportunities for polishing one’s career skills, include public lectures and courses as well as our research student program.
The University of the Ryukyus also accepts mature students who have jobs into our Master’s Program (Graduate School of Engineering and Science Pre-Doctoral Degree).
